We present and analyze a minimalist model for the vertical transport of people in tall building by elevators. focus on start-of-day operation which arrive at ground floor fixed rate. When an elevator arrives floor, passengers enter until capacity is reached, then they are transported to their destination floors. determine distribution times that each person waits arrives, number waiting elevators, transition synchrony multiple elevators when arrival rate sufficiently large. validate many our predictions event-driven simulations.
